The Government of India has introduced PAN 2.0 — an upgraded PAN with a dynamic QR code and enhanced security designed to create a fully paperless and unified online system. On 25 November 2024, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the PAN 2.0 Project with an outlay of ₹1,435 crore. PAN 2.0 is an e-governance initiative to upgrade and streamline taxpayer registration services through a technology-driven transformation of PAN/TAN services. It integrates core and non-core services into a single unified platform, supporting the Government’s Digital India vision.
Currently, PAN services are scattered across Easy access Services New Pan 2.0 kiosk cum enrollment centers. Under PAN 2.0, all services will be available on one unified portal offering:

Existing PAN holders are eligible for PAN 2.0. New PAN applicants are automatically eligible. Identity, address, and date of birth documents must be provided.
PAN 2.0 includes a dynamic QR code for real-time verification. The QR reveals name, parents’ names, photo, signature, and DOB. PAN 2.0 ensures paperless, secure, and faster verification. Existing PAN cards remain valid. Users may upgrade to PAN 2.0 at no additional cost; upgrade is available via eas-co.in websites.

Fee & Free Requests: Free if requested within 30 days of issue (up to 3 requests). After 30 days a nominal fee (example: ₹8.26 incl. GST) may apply for reprints or certain services.
